New Year, New Beginnings 2025
First, let me apologize for the radio silence for most of 2024! So much has happened in my life in a year that I could fill another book! I’m not going to go into everything here (you’re welcome), but with health issues early in the year on top of our international move, suffice it to say that my absence was warranted but has put me out of the social media loop and out of practice with my writing.
I will share one major event in 2024: I completed a course to obtain my certification as a Holistic Nutrition Coach. Combining that with my previous experience in the health and fitness industry, I am now taking on clients for Holistic Wellness.
What is Holistic Wellness, you ask? Well, holistic wellness is a holistic approach to health that considers the whole person, including their physical, mental, emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual health. I assist people in making incremental changes to better their health, maintaining accountability, brainstorming ideas to overcome challenges, and developing plans for potential obstacles.
You’ve likely already noticed the changes I made to my website, and you will see the shift in my writing toward wellness. As I get back into the swing of things, I hope this site will become a community that encourages one another toward holistic wellness.

On the homefront, I still homeschool our children, participate in church activities and Bible studies, and mentor new missionaries. I love coaching, so this will be a nice way to round out the blessings in my life.
I invite you to pray with us as our family steps into this new chapter of life in America. We raised our kids in Africa for the last 11 years, so this has been quite a shift for them. Bryan and I were there for a long time, too, so it’s also an adjustment for us. We seem to be acclimating well, but as the dust settles, we know challenges will come. What would a New Year’s post be without some goals?
Since our return, I’ve been under the care of a naturopath. He has been running tests to determine the root cause of my issues. I’m starting to feel better already. As my body heals, I’m getting back into exercise and adjusting my diet.
My goals for the first quarter of 2025 are in the areas of diet, fitness, and coaching:
- Diet: Remain sugar and grain-free
- Fitness: Run/walk a 5km race in March
- Coaching: Build my coaching clientele up to 10 clients in 2025
I will reset my diet and fitness goals each quarter as I gain a better understanding of how my body is healing and responding to treatment.
